Lees Hill Renewable Energy Park – An overview

Fred. Olsen Renewables is proposing to develop Lees Hill Renewable Energy Park. This is located 5 km west of Duns on land that is currently used for grazing.

Our plans are at a very early stage and we still have a significant amount of information to gather prior to submitting an application. It is currently anticipated that the project will consist of seven turbines, alongside up to 60MW of solar panels and 60MW of battery storage.

We plan on submitting a Scoping Report to the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit in the near future. This is a very early stage of the development process, which provides the opportunity for further and wider consultation on the project.

The feedback we receive throughout the consultation process, alongside the results of the technical assessments, will inform the design of the project, the EIA Report and allow us to develop a design and further detail.

A renewable energy park – ensuring efficiency

The proposals for Lees Hill Renewable Energy Park are being designed with efficiency at its core.

The plans will allow the opportunity to integrate wind power, solar power and battery storage, bringing forward complimentary power sources to secure a more consistent energy supply.

By developing a mix of technologies, this will enable us to use the full grid connection capacity and producing an efficient mix of electricity and increasing overall production at the site.

Project timeline

We are undertaking a range of consultation with the local community and key stakeholders. We anticipate that our project timeline will involve at least two rounds of public exhibitions, with the first being in October.

In the meantime, if you have any questions on Lees Hill Renewable Energy Park please get in touch by emailing communities@fredolsen.com or calling (0)7435763900.
