Fred. Olsen Renewables is delighted to announce that the 5th Poppyscotland Sportive has raised a total of £85,000, making it their most successful Sportive to date. The annual mass participation cycling event attracted over 1100 riders over a range of open road routes from 45 to 100 miles, all of which started and ended in Prestonpans in East Lothian.
"The Poppyscotland Sportive proved to be a positive and enjoyable experience for all of our fantastic fundraisers."
The 100-mile circuit took the more ambitious riders over the challenging Lammermuir Hills, passing Crystal Rig Wind Farm on the way on to the Scottish Borders.
The organisers were pleased to report a whopping 70% increase in funds raised this year, thanks to an increase in registrations, sponsorship, fundraising and merchandise sales. Event organiser, Katriona Harding, said “Poppyscotland Sportive is one of the most important awareness-raising and fundraising events in our calendar. We would once again like to thank the cycling community, Police Scotland, East Lothian Council and Scottish Borders Council for all of their amazing support, and the local community for their patience and support. I can say with confidence that the Poppyscotland Sportive proved to be a positive and enjoyable experience for all of our fantastic fundraisers.”
Fred. Olsen Renewables is hugely proud to support the invaluable work that Poppyscotland undertakes on behalf of our Armed Forces community. In sponsoring this event, we will be able to help them continue providing practical advice, assistance and funding during times of need.
