Fred. Olsen Renewables has renewed its sponsorship with Poppyscotland to continue supporting the charity’s Sportive event. This year’s event takes place on Sunday 29 September and is the sixth Poppyscotland Sportive. Riders can choose from three routes around East Lothian and the Scottish Borders. The two longer routes also take in Fred. Olsen Renewables’ Crystal Rig Wind Farm, which is located on the Lammermuir Hills approximately 40 km east of Edinburgh and 10 km south of Dunbar in the Scottish Borders.

Stuart Naylor, Fred. Olsen Renewables’ UK operations manager was on hand to help launch this year’s event. Stuart has taken part in every Poppyscotland Sportive so far and is also participating in this year’s event.

"Poppyscotland provides an invaluable service for the armed forces community. Speaking as a former RAF serviceman, I feel immensely proud that Fred. Olsen Renewables not only recognises these efforts but will be able to help raise much-needed funds and awareness of the charity through sponsorship of this year’s Sportive. In developing a long-term relationship with Poppyscotland, we have been able to ensure that all the money raised at the Sportive will be spent directly on the charity’s many great initiatives."

- Stuart Naylor, Fred. Olsen Renewables’ UK Operations Manager

"It is a privilege for us to have Fred. Olsen Renewables on board as our sponsor again this year – and for the next two years as well. Along with their support, and the generosity of those taking part, the Poppyscotland Sportive has raised an incredible £211,717. This goes directly to our Welfare Services team as they work tirelessly to support veterans throughout the country. What’s more, 100 per cent of the sign-up fee and any sponsorship raised by participants goes directly to Poppyscotland."

- Katriona Harding, Event Organiser for Poppyscotland

Money raised from the Scottish Poppy Appeal and Poppyscotland’s year-round fundraising enables them to deliver support to members of the Armed Forces community in Scotland. They provide tailored funding and assistance and also fund services in advice, employment, housing, mental health, mobility and respite.

Fred. Olsen Renewables is proud to sponsor Poppyscotland’s Sportive and support the work that Poppyscotland does to provide our Armed Forces community with support, advice and assistance.
