The project is located in the municipality of Gjesdal, County of Rogaland. The consent application was sent to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) in April 2008 and was consented on 26th June 2013.
The entire 15 km2 planning area is owned by several local landowners. Land leases have been signed for the area. The consent application calls for 135 MW of installed capacity. The production is estimated at 435 GWh, corresponding to the electricity consumption of roughly 21,750 Norwegian households.
The wind resource at the site has been modeled and the results were excellent. The planned windfarm will most likely be connected to the regional grid in nearby village of Gilja by a 6-8 km 132 kV production radial to a new switchyard.
A separate grid application for the project was submitted to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate in 2011. The regional grid will be upgraded to 132 kV by the grid owner.
